Fungal Contamination of Tools in Hair - Dressing Shop in HatYai City Municipality, Songkhla Province.

Abstract

This study is a exploratory research conducted in eighty hair - Dressing shop's HatYai municipality Songkhla Province by simple random sampling. This study aimed to study of fungi contaminated on tools in hair - dressing shop. The hair - dressing shop were divided into four groups in which standard of environmental health and sanitation by questionnaire and fungi collected on tools that selected four sample per shop.
The results of study showed that sixty were unstandard, eleven were basal standard, there were good standard and six were the best standard. The item of criterian that most of hair - dressing shop obtained was 56.5% of the standard hair - dressing shop and 76.67% of the unstandard hair - dressing shop had fungi contaminated. The association between fungi contaminated and standard level of hair - dressing shop was statistically significance at P<0.005 and the tools which fungi contaminated were hair-brush (93.3%), towel (82.3%), earpick (73.9%), comb (68.6%), nail equipment (60.8%) and scissors (60.0%).
Type of fungi that found on tools were opportunity fungi (67.2%), Candida spp. (8.75%) and ringworm spp. (5.9%).
